Question: Does a 17 year old have the right to choose how they are educated in oklahoma?

Is there a law that says that the parents are the sole desicion makers when deciding whether or not a child should be homeschooled or sent to public school? What about the child, it's there life and a teenager is old enough to know the difference and make a good descision.
What if homeschool is having physcillogical effects on the child, making him emotionally detatched and feeling isolated? What then?

Answer: Minors do not have these rights. Sometimes, their wishes are taken into consideration. However, the parents or guardians of a minor (or mentally challenged adult) are empowered to make ALL decisions for him or her.

A minor might try to get "divorced" from his/her parents, by either petitioning the court to be removed from their care and being placed into the care of another adult, or by becoming emancipated. However, this is a long drawn out process.
