During that time, many families have begun to unschool their children and homeschool them. By the late 1970's, John Holt published a newsletter called Growing Without Schooling and in the 1980's John Holt wrote Teach Your Own.

There are many benefits of homeschool unschooling. There are also people who argue against the concept of homeschool unschooling, claiming that it is unsuitable for educating children. However, many children using the homeschool unschooling method do use textbooks even though the use of textbooks are the opposite of the concept of homeschool unschooling.
