Question: Homeschooling is now Illegal in california?
This is true and homschoolers need to be aware.
California courts have held that ... parents do not have a constitutional right to homeschool their children," Justice H. Walter Croskey said in the 3-0 ruling issued on Feb. 28. "Parents have a legal duty to see to their children's schooling under the provisions of these laws."
I honestly don't see how this is possible and Legal at all

Answer: It's not quite that bad. I was called on this by my brother, who's Homeschooling my niece. It's just a Court of Appeals, NOT Supreme Court, opinion and the Home Schooling support group is appealing. Also, they did not ban home school--they just said there's no Constitutional right to Home Schooling. I am in a neighboring state, and home-schooled kids generally excell academically, but they must pass the same standardized testing as the public school kids. Parents here also have to submit a lesson-plan for each year, but I was ok with that. It kept us on track, too, as parents. If you want to help, find an office of the Home School Legal Defense Association and volunteer or donate. They need to win this case.

Question: Homeschooling questions regarding vaccine exemptions?
I live in California. I will be Homeschooling my children and since my son is nearly school age, begining to explore each Homeschooling option.
Enrolling in a private school satellite program, taking "independent study": Can they make requirements of us regarding vaccinations? Will I have to provide them with an exemption? Since they are a private school, can they refuse to accept my exemption?
Thanks for any help!
Answer: Only public schools are legally required to honor vaccine exemptions in California. Private schools are allowed to have their own rules, and each private school may have a different policy.
Contact the private schools you're looking at. Because you're looking at essentially "distance learning", it seems absurd that the school would really care. The reasons that private schools deny exemptions are usually over concerns that your child could get sick and spread it to the other children.
Be firm with the school, too. Some may try to bully you out of an exemption, or they may make claims that private schools are required to vaccinate (when in reality, they do have the option of accepting exemptions). You may prefer not to work with a school that acts like this anyway, though.
