Homeschool Classroom Ideas

Question: Teachers or Homeschool Moms--Help needed please?
I have been asked to speak at a teachers association meeting in a few weeks on applying skills learned in the classroom to real life. I have some ideas for how to teach the teachers this concept and some ideas for tasks and projects for the children such as kitchen work and fractions. I was hoping that there were other educators or homeschool moms would be able to offer some ideas and suggestions for me. Im speaking to teachers for K-5.
It is a small mission school here is Romania, I was asked because I have been Homeschooling for 7 years and have focused somewhat on this concept with my own children. It is something the children at the school are struggling with.
Answer: Can I ask why they asked you to speak about this? Do the teachers need help connecting their work to reality? What exactly is the person who invited you to speak hoping for?

Used Homeschool Abeka Curriculum

Question: A question for anyone who has used the aBeka Homeschool Curriculum?
Are students able to know the names of their fellow students? Do the students have the option of interacting with fellow students via internet?
I guess what I'm wondering is . . . If 2 people who knew eachother were both students with aBeka, would they be able to find out that they are fellow students without telling eachother?
This question sounds strange, but I would appreciate any answers. Thank you!
Answer: It is my understanding that aBeka is a boxed curriculum that you buy at a store, so I don't see how anyone would know anyone else using it, aside from local folks.
If you're looking for other homeschoolers, Yahoo groups have loads of state and local groups to join and find other homeschoolers in your area.
