Question: can i go to public school, but homeschool for 1 class?
i failed one class last year and i dont want to take it again in school because i fully understood the material and only failed because i didnt turn in any work.
i live in nj, and am now a senior, and i want to know if i will be able to take just one class as homeschooled while fully enrolled in public high school, and if i can receive highschool credit for it? and have it affect my gpa?
Answer: You'd need to ask your guidance counselor about that. Sometimes schools will allow it but they'll want to see lots of documentation on the work that was done before they'll give credit--sometimes they'll require you to do a lot more work at home than you'd have to do in a classroom in order to get the credit. They might require that you use an accredited program, whether online or correspondence course. Basically, though, if you want a public school to grant credit for a course, you'll need to talk with the guidance counselor about the public school's requirements...
The guidance counselor may have a variety of options to give you. Some schools have online programs that the school approves of.
But all will most likely involve doing the work (even if you already understand the material) in order to get the school to grant credit... Schools are like that; they want you to jump through all the appropriate hoops to get the reward...
