kindergarten homeschool curriculum
Question: I am considering Homeschooling but I am not very organized, can I do it?

I am the mother of 2 (and one on the way). My oldest is 3 and just started preschool. We would love to be able to send our kids to private school, but cannot afford the tuition (and I want to continue to be a SAHM). I was thinking about starting homeschool when my oldest goes into Kindergarten (about 2 years). I am not the most organized person, and I don't always have the most patience. How much is really involved in Homeschooling? It seems a little intimidating. How much does an average curriculum run? Can I do it? I have a friend who just started Homeschooling her Kindergartner, and we are talking about doing it together. Does it help to have someone else along the way? Thanks!

Answer: There are many different ways to Home school your little ones! Check out some books at the library on different styles and methods. When it comes to Kindergarten though, a Charlotte Mason approach is very good. Basically this mean lots of field trips and reading from books. In K you learn about science by being in the world, go to the zoo, nature walks, farms, etc. Math is used in everyday life like cooking, splitting candy, counting money. I would reccomend www.enchantedlearning.com to get printouts to help with letters; recognition, writing, etc. Basically K is very easy and allows you to get your feet wet before you dive into the real nitty gritty. When your child reaches grade school, if you are concerned with your organization, go with an accredited school like Kolbe, Calvert, or similar to help you stay on track. Good Luck!
