Question: What are some popular books/book series for high school age students?
I'm going to be teaching grammar and writing for a homeschool co-op in the fall, and I want to incorporate literature instead of using just grammar and writing textbooks, which tend to be dry and somewhat unrealistic as far as using language. I have two young children, so obviously what I'm reading for them isn't going to cut it for high schoolers, and I'm sure they wouldn't like my taste in fiction either.
felliax--I guess I shouldn't have used the term literature. I just meant anything that is popular with the high school set. I was thinking probably stuff like Twilight and Harry Potter, but wasn't sure what else. I do plan to ask on the firsst day what they like to read, but I wanted some books on hand before classes start.
Answer: If you don't mind what you get, you could have your students nominate books and then vote.
I noticed you said literature, and literature isn't very popular with high school students. You could look on your State/Country's education website what books public high school students are reading.
