Homeschooling Ideas For Preschoolers
![]() |

Question: Need ideas for homeschool routine?
I have a preschooler, a 2nd grader and a 4th grader. Does any one have any ideas on a good routine that I can work with all three for Homeschooling including adding my chores and theirs? I am really in need of something that works.
Thanks for your help in advance
Answer: I can give you some ideas that worked for me. When I had preschoolers I would plan the subjects needing minimal help during the morning hours. While the little ones napped we did the subjects like math that needed more one on one time.
When the kids were little we used the kitchen table for school (we had really comfortable chairs). I usually sat at one end of the table so that I could place a student on each side of me. That way I could rotate to help each.
I had a cabinet nearby filled with everything we would need for the older kids and a lot of things for preschoolers. Things like puzzles, play dough, math manipulative's, color pages, art supplies etc. As long as the little ones wanted they could sit at the table and do their "school". When they were bored they played nearby (I had a sand/water pic nick table in the kitchen with toys and things to occupy them. The little ones liked to copy the older kids so this worked well.
For some subjects we would use other areas of the house. I read aloud to them on my bed, the yard, or the couch for example. We did go on field trips and many were fine for younger kids to attend. I did sometimes co-ordinate with other homeschool moms so that one mom would stay at home with the preschoolers while the other took the older ones on the field trip.
We did some chores after school and some right before bed. I usually tried to have the house in good order before sending the kids to bed so that I could relax knowing my work was done. I also liked waking up to an orderly house that was ready for school.
