Question: High School Girls Fast-Pitch Senior Recognition Ideas?

My husband and I are over a homeschool fast-pitch team. This is only our 2nd year. We would love to do a senior recognition this year at our last home game. But, I need some ideas. We do a banquet at the end of the season, and everyone will be recognized then. I need ideas for decorating and anything else.

Answer: Our homeschool team only does something at our end of the year banquet. I guess this is partially because we don't have a home field.
It really depends how things are set up for your team. If the players are announced before the game you may want to say something then.

Question: In Michigan, if you want to homeschool your own kids, do you have to get a certified teacher?

In Michigan, if you want to homeschool your own kids, do you have to get a certified teacher to do it for you? We are Homeschooling our son in Indiana and are considering moving to Michigan. We checked out the Michigan laws on the HSLDA website and it says parents do not have to have a teachers degree to homeschool yet it also says you have to have a certified teacher to homeschool. Please explain.

Answer: There are two options for Homeschooling in Michigan.

The first is to operate a home education program. You do not need a teacher certificate for this.

The second option is to function as a nonpublic school. To homeschool under this option, you would need a teacher certificate.

You do not do both at the same time, just one. The first would be what most homeschoolers would do. Somebody who might be Homeschooling somebody else's child would pick number 2.
