For parents, homeschool grading your own child's performance can be difficult. After all, there is no current benchmark of how well other kids do and how well your child should have done. The best way to assess your child fairly is to see if your child has understood the subject taught or not. This means that your child will never get anything less than an "Grade A education" since if your child is not understanding something, you will go over it again and again until he or she does.

This can also motivate your child to learn quickly since he or she knows that if he or she fails the test, then it will be gone over again and again. It will also boost the child's confidence level since he or she knows that if he or she put more effort into it, he or she will understand it. That feeling of having a good grade and getting rewards is something all kids seem to want and work for.

Once again, remember that you are responsible for your child's education. Don't let emotion dictate what your child should learn and should not learn. You cannot allow yourself to get tired of forcing your child to learn a subject he or she does not like or yield to your child's cries when he or she just wants to play. Even if your child really hates learning a subject, it may be still necessary for him or her to master it. It is up to you to positively convince your child to learn that subject that he or she hates. While your child is still young and does not know what is best for them yet, you are responsible to ensure that he or she gets the education and skill set necessary to advance in the world later.

Some states may require you child be tested yearly. You need to check your state Homeschool Guidelines. Even if your state does not require yearly testing, you may want to test your child each year. Test results will tell you what methods are working and what methods not. You may also find your child's natural talents in one subject and weakness in others during after testing. It is also a measure of how good your are as a homeschool teacher and whether something needs to be changed in your homes schooling plan.

Homeschool Report Cards

Your state homeschool requirement will tell you if preparing a homeschool report cards is necessary. The purpose of the homeschool report cards is to tell the authorities how well your child is progressing. Check with your state to see if your need to submit a homeschool report card and who to submit to.
