Question: What is the BEST online Homeschooling academy or programs to use for NEW Homeschoolers ?
Hi, Can you please tell me what some of the best or well known Homescholoing academies most people use ? I am looking for a middle school program and we are new to Homeschooling this year. My State does not offer any help with curriculum AT ALL! I thought at least they would have some kind of an outline to follow, but the office said they do not.
We are in Virginia. Can you please help me with were to BEGIN..Iam looking into all options right now.
Also, do you PAY for your materials or do you get them free ? Im just trying to get ideas of what most parents do for there child.
Thanks so much!!
Answer: If you go through a state sponsored online school it's free. If you use books in the library, online resources and free museum days it can be free. You have no subject requirements but remember you have to fulfill the end of the year requirements.
WE use singapore math, singapore science, Sonlight for history, sonlight for language arts, free writing, Explode the code spelling. Along with field trips, sports, co-ops we spend around $1000.

Great Homeschool Curriculum

Question: Who knows of a great Homeschool Curriculum?
i am looking for one that isn't expensive. That has grades k-12.
Answer: We started with Lifepacs way back in the beginning. I would not recommend them for Math. Go to R.O.C.K. Solid for better prices. www.rocksolidinc.com .
We have gotten away from doing all classes with one curriculum. When you feel comfortable, try different approaches. We use Apologia for science, Saxon for Math, Abeka for Language Arts, and we have a co op that covers Literature, History, Geography, and writing.
Hope this helps some!
