homeschooling websites for kids
Question: What Homeschooling works for you and your kids and what are your favorite websites for this.?

I have a 7 and 4 yr old that I would like to start Homeschooling, especially foreign languages.

Answer: I haven't done any foreign languages with the kids but I use Bob Jones University. The books are colorful and keep the kids attention. I know it is a Christian based company, but maybe there is something that will fit you teaching style.

Question: I am considering Homeschooling my teens. Does anyone know of a good accredited Homeschooling program?

Private is too expensive now and public is a disaster. Looking for a good Homeschooling program that is accredited, keeps great records, with access to teachers online and can boast of their students acceptability to some major colleges. I live in California.

Answer: I can't recommend any programs as I have never used one, but you might want to look into seeing if your city has any kind of program for high schoolers to take college courses, often called "dual enrollment."

My daughter started the dual enrollment program when she was 15 and started taking courses at the local community college. This provided her with an AA degree by age 18 so she's technically going to a 4-year college in the fall as a transfer student.

But I would like to comment that most colleges and universities, from community colleges to Harvard, accept homeschoolers, regardless of whether or not they used an accredited program or not (which doesn't really have much meaning; it doesn't mean a program is good, just that it meets certain basic standards).

In fact, many major universities actively recruit homeschoolers now, which program (if any) they used doesn't seem to play any big part in it. A lot will contact them based on scores from tests like ACTs or SATs.

I highly recommend both you and your children reading: The Teenage Liberation Handbook: How to Quit School and Get a Real Life and Education by Grace Llewellyn.
