Free Homeschooling Curriculum

Question: Has anyone home-schooled for free using free on line resources? I mean, without purchasing a set curriculum?
This is my 2nd year Homeschooling and I have 2 2nd graders and a first grader. I have done online school (virtual academy) and done the purchased curriculum thing and I really want to go a different route. Please only answer if you have actually gone this route. Thanks!
Answer: I homeschool my daughter for little to no money (other than inital purchases, supplies and field trips). We DO NOT follow a set curriculum and the only 'curriculum' I bought was a set of Ray's Arithmetic, set of McGuffey Readers and a McGuffey Speller, other than that I either buy second hand books, get it from the library, yard sales, thrift stores, freecycle, craigslist (org not com), or download from websites like www.Kaboose.com, www.OldFashionedEducation.com and other sites.
To find it for FREE you just have to look, explore and fiddle with your google bar...my daughter wants to be a Palentologist (dinosaurs) when she grows up and I found websites that I can download from regarding that subject just by typing 'Free Dinosaur Stuff'.
In our house FREE or CHEAP are the homeschool route for us. Prepackaged cost too much $$$$ and you still need extra supplies just to do the work.

Question: What is a Good Homeschooling Programs online and books?
For a 7 year old. Who is currently in public school but reads and does math at a 2nd-3rd grade level.
I see lots of different programs I feel overwhelmed.
Is there a site that gives me the refresher courses I need because I never went to college I am just a Stay at home mom .
Is there anything online that compares different Homeschooling companies?
Please look at my other questions in the Homeschooling section of yahoo answers. I am seperating the questions because I want to give lots of best answers!
Answer: Go get Cathy Duffy's "100 top picks". It has a lot of great info in it on what to pick for your child's personality and learning style and a lot of info on what is in each curriculum. Homeschooling is trial and error, we seldom do EVERYTHING the same from year to year, and sometimes we find things that are AWESOME!!!. Sonlight curriculum has a great return policy if you are not happy with something too. I pick and choose from different curriculums, I also try to focus on what me kids are interested in, there are some great Unit studies out there. Do not let it overwhelm you, your child WILL learn regardless of what you do!
