Question: What do you teach a kindergarten student for science?

I have started Homeschooling my children, both are in kindergarten. The curriculum I have does not provide science. I was wondering what I should teach them for science. Last week we did baby animals, but now I am stumped. Any suggestions or idea's would be great! Thanks so much!

Answer: We just got a subscription to BrainPopJr.com, which was pricey, but quite fun. They're pretty good.

BrainPop supplements our core curriculum, which is K12.com. We pay for it, we're direct consumers rather than Virtual Academy students. Our K-Level Science is:

* Observing our world (what is observation? Five senses, etc.)
* My Body (bones, muscles, skin, hair)
* Introduction to Living Things (is it alive? How do you know?)
* Plants (What are seeds, what kind of plants do we eat, what do plants need to live?)
* Animals (Major types, skin coverings, food sources, etc.)
* Where do animals Live (habitats)
* Measurement (length, volume, weight, tools for each)
* What's the Matter? (What is "matter"? Solids, liquids, gas, turning matter from one state to another.)
* What's the weather? (sunny vs. stormy, how to read a thermometer, understand a weather report, what to do in weather emergencies)
* Seasons
* Planet Earth (land vs. water, shape of earth, build a model)
* Taking Care of Earth
* Farming
* Make it Move (push, pull and magnets)
* Astronomy
