organizing homeschool books
Question: HTML Question: How do I organize items on my webpage?

I'm including a music player, a chat box, and a few links on one page of my website. I want all these items to be lined up nicely in one row, but the chat box is on the upper-left corner, the music player is placed bottom-center, and the sole link I have is nonexistent for some reason.

How do I organize script items using HTML? (This is for a homeschool project, so I can't "take the easy way out", and the book I'm using for the course doesn't seem to cover my question.)

Thanks much!
Apct A - Please elaborate. Talk to me like I'm five. I'm not very good at this sort of thing! :D

Answer: You can change how HTML elements (

,

, etc, any valid HTML tags, classes, or IDs ) are displayed with a technology called CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). Basically, this lets you define different style attributes for each bit of your site. So, for instance, if you wanted every link ( tag ) to have a blue background, you could do:

a {
background-color: blue;
}

Or if you wanted your headings to be red, and aligned in the center:

h1, h2 {
text-align: center;
color: red;
}

or if you wanted a chatbox in the top left, regardless of where it is in the HTML:

#chatbox {
position: absolute;
top: 0px;
left: 0px;
}

Using this, you can position your music player / chatbox, etc however you want.

You can read up more on the W3C schools page for CSS:
