Homeschool World History Curriculum

Question: Homeschool History: USA or World? Which do you prefer?
So far I've been Homeschooling using Abeka history curriculum and it appears that in grades K-6th mostly USA history is taught. Not much about the world. Many of my homeschool friends use Story Of The World curriculum which teaches about ancient times, middle ages, other countries and places around the globe, but seemingly nothing about the USA. If I use one - I feel like my children will not learn about the other - and vise versa. I want my children to learn about both but at the right time. Any advice?
Answer: I found Sonlight is the most well rounded.
K is an overview of Geography
1-2 iw an Intro to World History
3-2 is an INtro to US History
5 is World Geography
6-7 is World History
8-9 is American History
I personally used SOS with supplementing with Sonlight's History, Reading and Read Aloud books. We read the History and Read Alouds together as a family as part of our :Literature Subject. My Children read the Reading Books for their Reading Subject. I have always used the Sonlight Core that best correlates with their SOS subject.
If you want more world history, just add it to your ABeka. I find my children learn the most from our Literature readings. The do not have comprehension questions or tests. We just read for the pure joy of reading.together and talking about what we read. It seems to be their favorite subject and they usually ask to read "just one more chapter. We have read all the Story or the World books, a lot of Biographies, and historical fictions. Son light's Word History historical fiction books were my oldest son's favorites.
Also look into Drive Thru History.DVDs. Funny, informative and my youngest son's favorites.
