Question: I need help finding a good Homeschool Curriculum ?

Hello I'm home schooled and my parents and I are having a hard time find a good home school curriculum . We have looked at many sites and found one , but was not impressed by what they offer . I'll help narrow down your search if your willing to help me . It's got to be a Christian curriculum , and gives a diploma , credits , and advance courses . If your home schooled or a home schooled parent then you no what to look for . I'm just writing to those that just want to help and no nothing or little about Home Schooling ? And by the way im in high school to . Very important one . Ha !

Thanks for your time

Question: What kind of materials do I need for my 7th grade Homeschool Classes?

SO I am Homeschooling a 7th grade girl. A bit advanced. Now, I read this thing online, an "activity bin" for home school organization, and I thought that could really help us. And it is just this lisslt basket thing that you put all the class materials in, I have a few ideas so far but I was just wondering if you had any ideas for supplies I could put in them. She takes thee classes:

Reading, Writing and Spelling

PE, Music and Art

Spanish

Photography

math

Peer Mediation/ Counseling

Science/ History

I think that is it, thanks everyone for all the ideas!!

Answer: Hello,

For the following subjects I recommend:

1.) Reading, writing, and spelling:

Flashcards (helps expand vocabulary), cue cards (if you need her to write down something to memorize or if she needs help spelling something), two notebooks for writing, two for spelling, one for reading, writing utensils/instruments (pencils, pens, erasers, correction pen, etc), a Student's dictionary (these have easy-navigation and highlighted words for smooth defining and it's suited for students), reading schemes which provide challenging yet amusing books and stories to help build a love for reading as well as nurture her reading skills, book tapes, etc.

2.) PE, music, and art:

For physical education: soccer + basketball + volleyball videos/tutorials, basketball/soccerball/volleyball, hoola hoop, jump rope, perhaps access to a fitness gym, run around a track or something, gather some homeschooled kids and have a game of dodgeball, sign her up at the local recreation center, etc.

For music: song sheets (for vocal songs), perhaps simple instruments such as harmonica/triangle/drums, etc.

For art: colours (felt-tip, bold markers, Sharpie, wooden, crayons, etc), paper (coloured and white as well as tracing paper), scissors, glue (white-school-glue as well as glue sticks), etc.

3.) Spanish:

Language kits, links to online Youtube tutorials, flashcards, books in Spanish, games in Spanish, movies in Spanish, basically encourage the use of Spanish everywhere.

4.) Photography:

Laptop, links to good editing sites (Photoshop or the evergrowing Picnik), camera, film (if needed), battery (if needed), charger (if needed), tutorials, etc.

5.) Math:

Flashcards, textbooks, online tutorials/videos, whiteboard and marker for examples, math games, two notebooks (one lined one grid), writing utensils/instruments as mentioned above, etc.

6.) Peer mediation/counselling:

Books (about drugs/alchohol, body, friendships, relationships), videos on how to become successful, games to take mind off work and life, napkins (tears!), numbers of support circles, check your local rec center to see if they have a group for girls' self esteem, etc.

7.) Science/History:

For science: Microscope, magnifying glass, textbooks, videos, games, flashcards, two notebooks, etc.

For history: Ideas for projects, textbooks, whiteboard and marker to explain, etc.

Cheers,

Dracula :)
