Question: Is the LIFEPAC homeschool program good?

I'm currently doing my IGCSE's, final year student. Just wondering, is the LIFEPAC curriculum good? I am more of a secular person when it comes to education, seeing as I'm not religious, and I see that LIFEPAC is a christian based curriculum? Does it focus more on religious standpoints? I just wanna do some subjects (Anthropology and Sociology, History, Geography, US and UK Lit, Government and Economics) for extra credits to apply for early placement. Could I also use this syllabus to apply for Ivy Leagues and Oxbridge, because I'm planning to do Forensic Anthropology.

Answer: LifePacs are definitely taught from a Christian worldview perspective. It teaches creation, a young earth, teaches evidences they believe refute evolution.
It is a good, strong curriculum in the higher grades if you are looking to teach/learn from this perspective. Some secular students find they can use the program and over look the items they do not believe, in the same way some Bible believeing Christians can teach from science books teaching theories they do not believe. Unless you are in the states and can attend a Curriculum fair or know someone who is using the curriculum you cannot preview the entire curriculum. There are samples online. Click on the subject you are interested in viewing, the click on the LifePac, you will be able to see about 5 of the pages from each of the 10 LifePacs.
Another way to see much more of what you are purchasing to see if it can work for you is attend a free on-line Webinar for Switched-On Schoolhouse. SOS is the sister computer version of LifePacs. The content is basically the same, with the addition of multimedia presentations. Instead of the worktext you install the curriculum on your computer, do all the work on the computer, the program grades your work and maintains your records for you. During the webinar, you can actually see the curriculum and the content and decide if the material will work for you.

The American and British Lit Electives are pretty straight forward with little religious overtones.
As far as being accepted in the Ivy Leagues, I can truthfully say, YES, a student using LifePacs and SOS can be accepted into the Ivies. My children used LifePacs grades 1-2 and SOS grades 3-12. My oldest son is a Junior in an Ivy League University on full academic scholarship. He has excelled in all his courses, and received advanced placement in his Math and English courses upon entering the univ,
Good Luck whatever your choices. My youngest son is talking about going into forensic science when he graduates in two years.
