Question: Homeschool question...could I complete two grade level curriculums in only one year if I tried?

I'm going to be homeschooled next year since I don't do well in public school...I'm realy smart I have gotten straight a's many times on report cards but I've been getting caught up in middle school drama and everything thats not important that my grades haven't been so well...I'm passing but I know I could do much much better so I'm going to be homeschooled for all of highschool. I've done research on Homeschooling and experts have said that you only need to spend about 30 minutes on each subject...so if I spend an hour on each subject (or more), do school on saturday, and skip a few breaks that public school students normally have (winter, spring, fall) would I be able do complete two grades in one year? Would I even be allowed to do that? I live in Arizona.

Answer: As long as you work your tail off, you might be able to complete 2 years of school in 1 year. I was home schooled for many years, but I never did more than one year of work. I just took advanced classes. So as long as you're willing to spend at least an hour a day on every subject and work weekends, you might be able to pull it off. What would be a more reasonable goal is to try to complete 3 grade levels in 2 years... then you would do a grade level and a half each year. That's a more reasonable goal. But you don't have to "finish" a grade level at the end of the year. You could also, for example, complete all your freshmen courses your freshmen year, but also that year work on half of your courses for sophomore year. Then sophomore year, finish the other half of the sophomore courses, then take all you junior courses.
That's a more realistic goal, 3 grade levels in 2 years. But try to get involved with Homeschooling groups. There are tons out there, and they help a lot. I used to get together with my group once a week, and we talked and did projects and had lots of fun. Good luck!
